Club Motto & Song

Ludo Postea Hoste translates to I Play Afterwards War.

This statement is attributed to Sir Francis Drake who in 1588 made the remark to Lord Howard, who wished him to stop the game and put to sea at once.  Sir Francis finished his game of bowls on Plymouth Hoe before going out to defeat the Spanish Armada.

The Glenelg Bowling Club’s team name is The Buccaneers.

Our Club song is:

We Are the Buccaneers

We are the Buccaneers,
We are the good ol’ Buccaneers.
We’re the club that never lets you down.
We’re the only team in Glenelg town.

We are the champions,
And when it gets tough, we’ll keep our end up.
