JACK ATTACK is Bowls Australia’s social-competitive version of bowls that can be enjoyed by new and experienced players.  It’s a fun, fast and fresh style of play.

AIM:  Bowls is a precision sport whereby players roll bowls, with the expressed intent of finishing closest to a smaller ball known as the ‘jack’.

TEAMS:  Each team comprises 3 participants playing on the green during each end.  You are free to have up to 6 members in your team rotating them between ends, giving all participants a chance to be involved, socialise, enjoy a drink-break or freedom to come and go as they please.

GAME:  Each of the 3 team members plays 2 bowls.  The game involves playing 2 sets of 5 ends.  If each team wins one set, a sudden-death tiebreaker is played.  All players wait at the delivery end of the rink until all bowls are delivered.  The winning team at each end delivers the jack to start play at the next end.  If the jack is knocked out of play, it is placed on the “T”.

SCORING:  Once each competitor or team has delivered all of their bowls, the distance from the jack to the closest bowl(s) is determined, and one point (called a ‘shot’) is awarded for each bowl that is closer than their opponent’s closest bowl to the jack.

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE:  Each team has a POWERPLAY that can be called at the beginning of an end during each set, doubling the number of shots won for that particular end!

EQUIPMENT:  All equipment required to play this game will be supplied.  Club bowls must be used (no privately owned bowls are allowed).

TIME:  Marches will be played each Wednesday evening from 6:00pm and last between 60 – 70 minutes.

We are currently gauging the interest of people who would like to play Jack Attack.
